■立山初冠雪

The first snow of this season was observed covering the peaks of Tateyama Mountain Range on October 13th.
10月13日に立山の初冠雪が観測されました。

It came five days later than in an average year.
観測は平年に比べて5日遅いということです。

In Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, we can enjoy the white snow-capped mountain peaks, red and yellow tinted leaves and evergreens at the same time.
立山黒部アルペンルートでは、雪化粧した立山と赤や黄色、緑といった紅葉を同時に楽しむことができます。

Murodo area was covered with a thin coat of snow. The roof of Murodo Terminal Hotel also turned white.
室堂周辺はうっすらと白い雪が積もり、室堂ターミナルのホテルの屋根も白く染まっていました。

■チューリップフェア球根植え

Today some elementary school children started to plant tulip bulbs in preparation for the Tonami Tulip Fair that takes place next spring.
来年春に開催される「となみチューリップフェアー」に向けて、小学生が今日チューリップの球根を植えるイベントを始めました。

This bulb-planting started 11 years ago　 to make the Tulip Fair an annual event that the citizens can join in.
球根の植え込みは、チューリップフェア―を市民が参加するイベントにしようと、11年前から行われています。

They are planning to plant 24,000 bulbs in the flower beds around the site of the fair.
チューリップの球根はフェアー会場周辺の花壇におよそ2万4千球を植える予定です。

We will be able to see yellow and red tulips next spring.
来年の春には黄色や赤色のチューリップが見られそうです。
