■トキメキ飛来

A Japanese crested ibis, whosenicknameis “Tokimeki” has returned to Kurobe City. This kind of bird is designated as a nationally protected species.
「トキメキ」の愛称で親しまれているトキが、黒部市に戻ってきました。この種は国の特別天然記念物に指定されています。

Tokimeki had left Kurobe in May this yearand is supposed to have stayed in Ishikawa Prefecture until recently.
トキメキは今年5月に黒部市を離れ、つい最近まで石川県にいたとみられています。

After reading newspaper articles, some photo devotees gathered here and took pictures of it.
新聞などの報道を読んで、現地には写真愛好家らが集まり、トキメキの姿を写真に収めていました。

■サクラマスの放流

Children joined in stocking the river with young cherry salmon.
子供たちがサクラマスの幼魚を放流しました。

The catch of cherry salmon fell off from 160 tons in late Meiji Era to just 1 ton lately.
サクラマスの漁獲量は、明治時代後半の160トンから最近では1トンに減少しました。

This stocking takes place annually in order for children to know the importance of the natural environment.
この催しは、自然の大切さを子供たちに知ってもらうために毎年開かれています。

They released the young fish carefully, hoping that they would come back here safely next year.
子供たちはマスが来年無事帰ってくるよう願いながら、慎重に放流しました。
