■北陸新幹線試験走行


A test run was conducted to check the track and facilities along the Hokuriku Shinkansen which is supposed to start its operation in the spring of 2015. It was the first time the train of Hokuriku Shinkansen had been seen running in Toyama.
2015年春に開業する北陸新幹線の試験走行が行われ、県内区間に初めて新幹線の車両が姿を見せました。


The test run covered about 135 kilometers between Nagano Station and Kurobe Unazuki-Onsen Station. A special type of train called “East- i ” was used for the test run to detect any anomalies along the Shinkansen line.
走行試験は長野駅と黒部宇奈月温泉駅の間およそ135キロの区間で行われ、イーストアイと呼ばれる特殊車両が線路その他の異常がないか検知するために使われました。


At the station, about 200 citizens who had drawn a winning number greeted the train, waving flags and clapping their hands.
駅では抽選で選ばれた市民らおよそ200人が旗を振ったり拍手したりして到着を歓迎しました。

■恐竜の足跡の化石発見


Fossilized footprints of a kind of herbivorous dinosaur have been discovered from a stratum in Oyama, Toyama City.
富山市大山地域の地層から草食恐竜の一種とみられる足跡の化石が見つかりました。


They belong to the Ankylosaurus which is also known as the armored dinosaur.
足跡は「よろい竜」とも呼ばれるアンキロサウルスのものです。


Another set of footprints of the same kind of dinosaur was also found here in the year 2000.
この地域では2000年にも同じ種類の恐竜の足跡が見つかっています。


It is said that the footprints in the fossil discovered this time are better preserved than the previous ones.
今回見つかった足跡の化石は前回のものに比べ、保存状態が良いとのことです。
