■富山第一高校県特別栄誉賞


The soccer team of Toyama Daiichi High School won the championship in the All Japan High School Soccer Tournament　for the first time in its history.
富山第一高校サッカー部が全国高校サッカー選手権で初優勝しました。


The team received the Special Honor Award from the Governor of Toyama Prefecture.
彼らには県知事から特別栄誉賞が贈られました。


With the pennant high up in the air, the members of the team walked along the road leading to the hall for the ceremony, cheered by the large number of people who came to see them.
贈呈式会場まで選手たちは優勝旗を高く掲げて歩き、集まった大勢の人たちの祝福を受けました。


In the hall, about 800 people gathered and praised their great achievement.
会場のホールには約８００人が集まり、選手たちの偉業をたたえました。

■上市町滝修行


January twentieth is supposed to be the coldest day of the year which is called “Daikan” according to the Japanese calendar.
１月２０日は寒さが１年で最も厳しいとされる「大寒」です。


In a temple in Kamiichi, an annual ascetic practice in winter was seen.
上市町のお寺では恒例の寒修行が行われました。


Some believers went into the waterfall one after another. The temperature of the water was 2 degrees Celsius.
信者は水温２度の滝に次々と入り、滝に打たれました。


With clasped hands shaking up and down, they were raising their own spirits.
組み合わせた手を上下に振りながら気合いを込めていました。
